CALL OUT FOR AMATUER MUSICIANS! We are looking for a brass ensemble, a string quartet and a choir to perform a large-scale dance performance by Stephanie Thiersch with music written by celebrated German composer Brigitta Muntendorf in Victoria Square on 2 June for the opening of the Birmingham International Dance Festival 2018.

Wind/Brass Band, ideal Instrumentation as follows (adjustments are possible):

  • 7 Flutes
  • 1 Oboe
  • 15 Clarinets in B Flat
  • 1 Bass Clarinet in B Flat
  • 3 Alto Saxophones
  • 4 Tenor Saxophones
  • 1 Bassoon
  • 1 Horn in F
  • 4 Trumpets in B Flat
  • 2 Trombones
  • 1 Baritone
  • 1 Tuba in F
  • 1 Percussionist Marimba / Snare Drum
  • 2 Alphorns (could be other) 

String Quartet (ideally 2 violins, viola, cello) + trombone + alto saxophone 

Choir of at ideally 20, 4 voices (soprano, alto, tenor, bass)

Group of 4 drummers

The musicians will be required to prepare this piece in their own rehearsal time. There will be additional rehearsals at the end of May, where all of the ensembles will come together to rehearse with Brigitta Muntendorf in the lead up to the performance.

Performance: 2 June 2018

This performance opportunity is not paid, however we will cover travel expenses within Birmingham and supply food vouchers for the Festival Hub.
