If you are passionate and enthusiastic about dance and the arts, enjoy working with a wide range of people and have a “can do” approach, then we’d love to hear from you.

There are a wide range of volunteer roles across the festival – all vital to its success. This means there are lots of opportunities for you to get involved whether you want to add to your CV, love dance or simply want to see behind the scenes of a major festival.

Volunteers will have a particular focus on our dance-packed Festival Square, from 1-10 June in Victoria Square; our busy Family Weekend at Midlands Arts Centre; and exciting work touring to community settings around the city. Responsibilities will include: chaperoning artists, assisting with event and performance set ups, stewarding events, assisting with family activities, supporting marketing, social media and flyering, and welcoming festival visitors of all backgrounds.

This is an opportunity to be involved in a vibrant large-scale city-wide event and meet artists and performers from around the world.

Volunteers will be required throughout the festival, starting with Festival Square set up on 30 May and running through to 24 June. Ideally each volunteer will be available for at least 3 shifts. Please tell us about your availability in the application form.

How to sign up

If you are over 16 and interested in volunteering, please download and complete an application and equal opportunities and monitoring form and email both forms to [email protected] by 6pm on Sunday 20th May.

Volunteers will be required to attend a briefing meeting on either 25 May or 26 May to meet the BIDF team and find out about the festival and the volunteer role.
