Country of Origin: France & UK

Friday 5 June / All Day

Apaches is an ambitious participation project that accumulates in a celebratory large-scale performance in Birmingham’s Centenary Square for the opening of Birmingham International Dance Festival 2020 (BIDF 2020). Apaches is led by Saïdo Lehlouh of French Company Black Sheep, with a team of professional dance artists from France and the UK.

Over 100 young people from across the West Midlands will be joining the professional dance artists to create an exciting large-scale performance. The process will see young people from all walks of life come together to explore themes of creative expression, identity and celebration. Audiences can expect to see a variety of dance styles within the performance including but not limited to Bharatanatyam, Contemporary, Physical Theatre, African Dance, Hip Hop, Acrobatics and Street Dance.

Apaches is produced by DanceXchange for BIDF 2020 and co-commissioned by Birmingham Hippodrome, in collaboration with their B-Side Hip Hop Festival.
